Membership to PAP

 

Types of Members

 

There are four types of membership in the PAP:

A. FELLOWS

Fellows shall be individuals whose occupation and professional activities are primarily in the advancement of psychology as a science and as a profession.

To qualify as a Fellow, a member must satisfy the following criteria:

1.)  Must have obtained a Doctoral degree in psychology proper, or in any of its major subdivisions. Such doctoral degree must have been based in part on a scientific dissertation of acceptable standard on a problem in psychology and which is conferred by a graduate school of recognized handling;

2.) Must have published at least one research work of acceptable standard on a problem in psychology;

3.) Must have demonstrated professional competence in psychology;

4.) Must have been a member of good standing of the Association for at least two years prior to the conferment of this status.

B. ASSOCIATES

Associates shall be individuals who in the practice of their profession are engaged in activities which contribute to the advancement of psychology as a science and as a profession.

To qualify as an Associate, one must satisfy the following criterion:

1.) Must have obtained a Masters degree in psychology proper conferred by a graduate school of recognized standing.

C. AFFILIATES

Affiliates shall be individuals who are engaged in activities rendering psychological service.

To qualify as an affiliate, one must satisfy at least one of the following criteria:

1) Must have obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or in an allied field;

2) Must have accomplished at least one year of acceptable professional experience in psychology or a related field; or

3) Must be currently enrolled in a graduate program in psychology.

D. JUNIOR AFFILIATES

 Junior Affiliates shall be undergraduate students pursuing psychology as a major course or simply interested in the study of human behavior in general and the discipline of psychology in particular, who have registered at a PAP Junior Affiliates (PAPJA) convention, paid the required fees thereof, and earned a Certificate of Attendance in the same.

PAP National Convention – This annual convention features latest research, best practices and talks by thought leaders. The annual convention also features workshops to hone psychologists’ skills or feature latest trends

Continuing Education Workshops – These are short seminars conducted throughout the year to hone psychologists’ skills or feature latest trends

Charter Members, Fellows, and Associates are entitled to receive copies of the Philippine Journal of Psychology; Affiliates and Junior Affiliates may acquire copies of Journals at special membership rates;

Network and Know What’s Going On!

The various PAP programs are designed to hook you up with other psychologists in your field.

All members are entitled to receive copies of the PAP newsletter that features latest news, activities and information about programs and conferences

Be Involved!

Charter Members, Fellows, and Associates are qualified to vote, be nominated and elected to the Board of Directors.

Through its divisions, PAP regularly engages in service projects that allow us to share our expertise as psychologists to communities and individuals in need.
