President

Allan B.I. Bernardo, Ph.D. is a cognitive psychologist and educational psychologist who received his advanced training from Yale University, USA.

He is Professor and University Fellow DLSU-Manila, Chair of the Education and Training Committee of the Asian Association of Social Psychology, Director and President-Elect of the ASEAN Regional Union of Psychological Societies and Chair of the Technical Panel on Teacher Education of the Commission on Higher Education. His research interests include: achievement motivation, mathematical learning & problem solving, language and learning. He has received various award for his prolific research including: the Outstanding Young Scientist Award by the National Academy of Science and Technology, Spencer Postdoctoral Fellowship by the National Academy of Education (USA), and The Outstanding Young (TOYM) Man Award by the Philippine Jaycees.

Vice President

Richard dlC. Gonzales, Ph.D. obtained his Doctorate degree (Ph.D.) in major in Research and Evaluation, cognates in Psychology and Industrial Relations at the University the Philippines in 1996 and a master’s degree (M.Sc.) in Educational Measurement, Evaluation and Statistics from De La Salle University-Manila in 1987.

Richard’s professional experience of more than 15 years in test development, program evaluation, monitoring and evaluation including feasibility study, project management, educational administration, human resource in the ASEAN countries and private organizations. Concurrently, he is a Professorial Lecturer at the Graduate School of the UST and the Assistant General Manager and Senior Consultant of the Nomura Research Institute.

Executive Secretary

Edna P. Franco, Ph.D. is the executive director of the Ateneo Center for Organization Research and Development (CORD) and an assistant professor of the Department of Psychology and coordinator of the MA in IO Psychology program at the Ateneo de Manila University.

Her moved to the academe capped 30 years of practice in organization development and human resource management both here and abroad. She obtained her Master of Science in Social Psychology at the Ateneo de Manila and has a Certificate in Applied Behavioral Sciences from the University of Southern California. She completed her A.B. Psychology at the University of the Philippines and her Ph.D. in Social Organizational Psychology in Ateneo de Manila. Last year, Bopeep was the Division Chair in IO Psychology in the PAP. She is co-editor of the book, The Way We Work: Research and Best Practices in Philippine Organizations.

Treasurer

Carmelo M. Callueng, M.S. is an assistant professor and currently chair and graduate coordinator of the Psychology Department of De La Salle University-Manila.

He teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in psychological assessment, statistics, research, experimental psychology, cognitive psychology, and psychology of learning. He obtained his masters degree in measurement and evaluation from DLSU-Manila and had a year of graduate training in school psychology from the University of Florida, USA. His research has focused on areas related to test adaptation, children’s temperaments, school learning, and positive psychology.

P.R.O.

Ma. Regina M. Hechanova, Ph.D is an associate professor at the Ateneo de Manila University and the Director for Research at the Ateneo Center for Organization Research and Development (CORD). Gina has a Ph.D. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from the Central Michigan University and received her MS and BS degrees from UP Diliman.

She has 20 years experience as an internal and external human resource practitioner both in the Philippines and in the USA. A innovative educator and prolific researcher, she received the Chancellor's Award for Most Outstanding Faculty from the University of the Philippines in 1996 and Outstanding Young Scientist in 2005 by the National Academy of Science and Technology. She is co-editor of the book, The Way We Work: Research and Best Practices in Philippine Organizations.

Ex-Officio

Lucila O. Bance, Ph.D. is a full professor of the Department of Psychology of the College of Science and Graduate School of the University of Santo Tomas. A Fellow and Vice President of the Psychological Association of the Philippines (2002-2004), and President (2004-2005).

She finished Ph. D. in Psychology at UST with Summa Cum Laude Honors. She was named Most Outstanding Professor and UST Silver Awardee in research in 2004. In 2005, she was named one of the Outstanding women of the world by Marquis Who’s Who based in the United States of America and in 2006, one of the Leading Health Professionals of the world by International Biographical Centre in Cambrige, England.

Board Members

 

Alexa P. Abrenica, Ph.D. is a Professorial Lecturer at the Psychology Department of De La Salle University.

She retired with the rank of Full Professor of the Psychology Department of DLSU where she served in various capacities for 28 years including Chair of the Psychology Department, Director of Graduate Studies of the College of Liberal Arts, etc. She obtained her B.S. Psychology at the University of Sto. Tomas, Master of Science in Guidance and Counseling and Doctor of Philosophy in Counseling Psychology major in Clinical and School Psychology, With Distinction, at the DLSU. She has written a number of articles published in professional journals in line with her research program in adult development and measurement. She authored the book entitled SPACES: Wellsprings of the Middle Years and Beyond published by the De La Salle Press.

Liane P. Alampay, Ph.D. is a developmental psychologist and an Asst Professor and the Loyola Schools Research Coordinator at the Ateneo de Manila University.

Liane obtained her PhD from Pennsylvania State University and her BA and MA degrees from UP Diliman. A consultant to UNICEF, her current research interests & projects include: autonomy and identity development in Filipino adolescents; parent- adolescent relationships; cross-cultural studies of adolescent development; psychosocial indicators of poverty; effects of poverty on child and family development.

Ma. Cecilia G. Conaco, Ph.D. is a professor of psychology at the University of the Philippines Department of Psychology in Diliman. Ces is a social psychologist by training, having completed her doctorate at the University of California in Santa Barbara under a Fulbright-Hayes scholarship.

Her dissertation research, using a social cognitive theoretical frame and an experimental methodology, investigated the representations people have of complex social categories. Her continuing research work and interests today lie mainly in the area of social categories and identity and their implications for various social behaviors. She is also a certified political psychologist having completed the requirements for a certificate in political psychology at the Ohio State University in Columbus. In 1991, she was named one of the Outstanding Young Scientists by the National Academy of Science and Technology.

Mira Alexis P. Ofreneo, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor at the Ateneo de Manila University where she also obtained her PhD in Social/ Organizational Psychology.

Mira was the Division Head of the Social Psychology cluster of PAP in 2006-07. The Executive Director of Can’t Live in the Closet, Mira is an advocate of gay and lesbian rights. Her current research interests & projects include gender, sexuality & relationships: sexual orientation/identity, lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender issues, love and intimate relationships, sexual attitudes, violence against women, sexual abuse.

Antonietta S. Rosel, MA is an Associate Professor, Department of Psychology, University of the Philippines Diliman. She is a Ph.D. candidate in the Guidance and Counseling, UP, Diliman.

And obtained her MA Social-Personality Psychology, Univ. of Hawaii, Honolulu, Hawai, USA and AB Psychology, Univ. of San Carlos, Cebu City (Magna cum laude). Her research interests include: International Labor Migration of Filipino Women, Workaholism, Marital Infidelity etc. She is also serves a Psychologist-consultant, Inter-country Adoption Board of the Department of Social Work and Development.

Carmencita H. Salonga, Ph.D. is a faculty of the Centro Escolar University, Manila where she is the Head of the Counseling and Testing Department.

She is also the Executive Director of the Mendiola Consortium. Other than her involvement in PAP, she is also a member of the Philippine Guidance and Counseling Association and Philippine Mental Health Association.

Jesus Enrique G. Saplala, Ph.D. is an Associate Professor and Chairperson of the Department of Psychology in Miriam College.

Jay is is the founder of Skwelahang Sikolohiya, an alternative literacy program for convicted male offenders at the New Bilibid Prisons for which he received the ‘Outstanding Literacy Worker’ award from the Department of Education Literacy Coordinating Council. In 2004 and 2005, Jay was chosen as one of the Outstanding Teachers in Miriam College. Recently, he received the ‘President’s Award for Research’ at Miriam College.

Madelene A. Sta. Maria, Ph.D. obtained her undergraduate and MA in Psychology at the University of the Philippines and her PhD at the University of Cologne in Germany.

For 18 years, she has served as faculty of Psychology in De La Salle University-Manila, where she is the coordinator of the masteral studies in Applied Social and Cultural Psychology. She has published journal articles and chapters in edited volumes on adolescent development and on the cultural influences in conflict and on the self. She is currently the national coordinator for the Southeast Asian Conflict Studies Network, and is also the director for the Commission on Higher Education Zonal Research Center for NCR 1. A consultant for the Asian Development Bank, she is presently engaged in research on comparative adolescent development, culture and emotion, and political socialization.
