Roads Lead to Bohol
In August 16-18, 2007, the
PAP will make history as it holds its first Annual Convention outside
Metro Manila at the Metrocentre Hotel and Convention Center,
Tagbilaran City, Bohol. The 44th Annual Convention will be
co-sponsored by the University of Bohol, and will have the theme “One
Philippine Psychology: Unity amid Diversity.” The theme expresses the
PAP’s aspiration to be a true national organization that brings
together the best minds, intentions, and aspirations of all Philippine
psychologists, wherever they may be. The theme recognizes the
differences in the contexts, resources, and goals of psychologists in
different parts of the country, and articulates the need to find ways
of coming together to ensure that psychology in the Philippines
realizes its full potential as a science and professions that aims to
help us better understand and positively address the different
problems of our country.
In this regard, the 44th
Annual Convention will feature several plenary lectures by leading
Philippine psychologists who speak about current work in Philippine
psychology that addresses some of the most important issues facing
Philippine society today. There will also be research paper
presentations on by psychologists from different universities and
organizations in the country organized in thematic sessions. These
presentations will showcase the most recent research investigations in
the different subfields of psychology. Finally, there will be
continuing professional education workshops that aim to develop the
capacities in the different aspects of psychological scholarship and
professional practice.
